Cleveland’s very own Rock and Roll Hall of Fame every year inducts new bands and artists into the great collection of musical history. Terry Stewart the president of the rock and roll hall of fame talked about the criteria for being inducted: “The only formal criteria for the performance category is that an artist has to have had their first record 25 years ago. That said, candidates are reviewed and discussed relative to their impact on this music that we broadly call rock and roll.”  Some people are angry about this criteria being too harsh or unfair to specific musicians. The people who review the nominations vote on who should be inducted. There are specific cases where people are nominated many times and don’t get enough votes. If the artist is continuously nominated it could result in automatic induction.

2022 induction ceremony inducted 7 musicians:

  1. Pat Benatar

  2. Duran Duran

  3. Eminem

  4. Eurythmics

  5. Dolly Parton

  6. Lionel Richie

  7. Carly Simon

Here are some HB student opinions on who should be inducted in the coming years.

  1. SZA – Charlotte Kleid
  2. Bikini Kill – L Firstenberg
  3. Justin Bieber – Lucy Castellanos
  4. Bruno Mars – Viza Simone
  5. Måneskin- Paige Ryan
  6. The Crane Wives – Percy Miligan
  7. Louis Tomlinson – Aron Nathan
  8. Slipknot – Avery Arnold
  9. Harry Styles – Everyone
  10. The Killers – T-Paul
  11. The Goo-Goo Dolls – Jinan Berard

I suggested Bikini Kill as a good artist to add into the Rock and Hall of Fame because of their out of the box punk style of kin to feminism. The lead singer Kathleen Hanna is an inspirational feminist who usually adds melody to her angry poetry. Their music really bumps up my confidence and is great for a workout to sweat out the anger.
