Taylor Swift, a recognized songwriter, director, and artist, released her 10th album, Midnights, on October 21, 2022. During its debut week, Midnights moved almost 1.6 million people and was the first to sell more than 1 million physical copies since 2015. “Taylor is a multidimensional creative force whose achievements place her among the most accomplished artists in the history of music, and we are thrilled and honored to partner with her across so many aspects of her career,” said Universal Music Group Chairman & CEO, Sir Lucian Grainge.

As a brilliant singer and songwriter, Taylor is able to capture the imagination of her audiences with her incredible storytelling capabilities –allowing fans to truly relate to her through her music. Taylor’s Midnights era has a mystical, dreamy vibe that listeners are able to see through songs such as “Lavender Haze”, which collaborated with Lana del Rey. According to Teen Vogue, “Midnights isn’t an album of other people’s stories — they’re largely her own, or modeled after stories she has told in the past. The myths she’s drawn to in this world are ghosts, haunting her in the middle of the night whether she’d like to be defined by them or not.” Teens all over can relate to this, as we all seem to have these “ghosts” that break into our minds and torture us– a shared experience where those affected feel comfort knowing someone relates to them.

Taylor’s music is adored so much that fans from all around the country got online on November 15 in an attempt to purchase tickets to her Eras Tour concert. However, Ticketmaster ended up having to cancel the general sale, since they ran out of tickets in the presale. Millions of Swifties overwhelmed Ticketmaster’s website, causing periodic outages, dropped connections, and hours-long waits. All over TikTok, devastated fans could be seen expressing their frustration or excitement at getting tickets – only 2% of fans were able to buy tickets.  All in all, Taylor Swift made tremendous impacts on the general public in the last few months of 2022, leaving a mark on her fans and encouraging more to become Swifties as her Midnights album gained 88 million streams on Spotify alone. At this point, the only question is: what will this talented songwriter do next?
