Over quarantine, a lot of people picked up different hobbies or took time to master a certain skill. My quarantine adventure was learning how to bake, as is evident by how many recipes I publish. I’ve posted two delicious recipes for sweet baked goods but nothing savory. Taking that into consideration I’ve devoted this article to a savory recipe, Garlic Butter and Cheese Bread Bombs.

This is my family’s favorite recipe that I make during the holidays or whenever bread is required. They always ask, “Michaela, could you please make those rolls again? They were so good last time” and I’m sure your family will be saying similar things once you try this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of yeast
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of dry powdered milk
  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 2 cups of warm water
  • ⅓  cup of olive oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 bag of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 5 tablespoons of melted butter
  • ½  tablespoon of garlic powder
  • ½ tablespoon of dried parsley
  • 2 eggs

Combine the following ingredients in a large mixer bowl:

  • 2 tablespoons of yeast
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of dried milk
  • 2 cups of All purpose flour
  • 2 cups of warm water

Cover bowl with a clean cloth and let rest for 10 minutes

After 10 minutes, add the following ingredients to the same bowl:

  • 1/3 cup of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

In your mixer or with a spatula, Knead the dough for 10 minutes, (No more no less!)

Roll the dough into evenly sized dough balls, take one dough ball at a time and roll them out flat, (Not too thin but not too thick either.)

Put a small amount of shredded mozzarella cheese in the center of the rolled out ball.

Pinch the edges of the dough ball around the cheese and squeeze them all together. (Make sure all of the corners are squeezed together and there is no air inside of the ball.

Combine 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons of water in a small bowl to make an egg wash.

Once all of the dough balls you want are formed, place on an oiled baking sheet and brush with egg wash.

Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes

Combine the following ingredients in a small bowl to make the garlic butter mixture:

  • 5 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon of dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Brush garlic butter mixture on top of warm bread rolls, and you’re done!
