After an intense week full of midterms the first semester is over! This means that winter break is just around the corner. Here are 5 things to do in Cleveland this season.

  1. Go Ice Skating

For a fun winter themed activity get together with your friends and family and hit the rink! The Cleveland Foundation Skating rink is a popular outdoor spot, in the center of the city with lights and fun holiday themed activities. From visiting professional olympic skaters to performances on ice, to an open rink, available for you to do what you want, ice skating is always fun. If you don’t know how to ice skate, have a friend teach you, and if you do, see if you can teach someone else!

  1. Visit the Art Museum

Instead of getting out into the cold, spending your time indoors can be just as exciting. Art is such a beautiful thing, to create, analyze, and just look at, and the Cleveland Art Museum has it all! From ancient art with historical significance, to an interactive exhibit where you can tap into your inner artist, if you’re bored this break, head to the Cleveland Art Museum. You can visit your favorite exhibits or learn about something new by heading to some of the amazing current exhibitions. Click this link to learn more!

  1. Go see the nutcracker

Cleveland is home to a lively community of artists. The Cleveland ballet is performing 7 shows of their annual nutcracker. From December 15-18, a range of times are available to see the show. The performance is excellent for all ages, so bring a younger sibling, or your entire family. Some of our own HB students will even be performing at the Playhouse Square’s Connor Theatre.

  1. Visit the Metroparks

In the summer, the metroparks are an increasingly popular spot home to lush vibrant trees. But in the winter, the park’s beauty is often neglected. There are plenty of activities that you can do in the winter at the metroparks like snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or even just a winter hike. If these don’t sound appealing to you, simply take a walk or run and take in nature, and fresh air!
