Even though Thanksgiving has passed,  Christmas is coming up, and impressing those judgmental family members with your baking skills is one way to get your parents to brag about you. Making a cake may seem like a big task to take on, especially making one from scratch. I speak from experience when I say that I’ve struggled to bake many different kinds of cakes in the past, always trying things that were above my skill level, but this chocolate cake recipe is easy, delicious, and fun. Seriously, frosting and decorating the cake was so fun.

This is my second posted recipe of the year so I hope you enjoy eating and making this dessert! 🙂

These are the ingredients you will need:

2 cups of sugar

2 cups of flour

1 ¼ cups of cocoa powder

1 ½ teaspoon of baking soda

1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder

1 teaspoon of salt

1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 cup of reg milk or buttermilk

2 eggs

1/2 cup of vegetable oil

1 cup of hot water

1 teaspoon of instant coffee

1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

1/2 cup of chocolate chips

1 cup of heavy cream

2 6-inch cake pans

In a bowl combine:

2 cups of sugar

2 cups of flour

1 1/4 cups of cocoa powder

1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda

1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder

1 teaspoon of salt

1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

Whisk together and then add to the same bowl:

1 cup of reg milk or buttermilk

2 eggs (whisked together beforehand)

1/2 cup of vegetable oil

1 cup of hot water mixed with

1 teaspoon of instant coffee

1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

Pour into 2, 6-inch oiled cake dishes and put into the oven at 350 for 35-40 minutes

Next, while it’s baking, make your Ganesh in a bowl mix:

1/2 cup of chocolate chips

1 cup of simmered heavy cream

Mix and set in the fridge

Once the cake is done let it completely cool and chop off the top bit, not too much tho

Smother it all in the chocolate Ganesh, top it with raspberries, mint, and shaved dark chocolate, or just top it with whatever you want. ¯\_(ツ)_/
