Lets face it. 2020 was absolute trash. From fires to viruses to election drama 2020 was a whirlwind of surprises and surprises until nothing surprised anyone anymore. I went into the holiday season hoping that the new year would bring good fortune and happiness. Ok that was a lie. I was really just hoping that things would brighten up a bit and that I might be able to have a normal end of freshman year. Unfortunately, not even 2 weeks into the new year and things have already gone from very bad- to very very bad.
On January 6th armed Trump supporters stormed their way into the capitol. Their intent was to get certain states votes thrown out of the election. In the process of this raid they broke windows and busted open doors all while yelling at the top of their lungs about democracy and owning the house. In total 5 people died and dozens more people were injured. Because of Trump’s involvement he was banned from just about every social media platform that exists. Articles of impeachment started drafting as well. On the 20th of January Joe Biden was sworn in as President and Kamala Harris was sworn in as Vice President. In all previous inauguration the former President attends to wish luck and show respect. Trump did not even show up.
Schools all over the U.S. are opening up to avoid budget cuts and angry parents but it is also increasing the amount of Covid cases among students. Last week was the highest increase of cases in children since the beginning of the Pandemic. As vaccinations are going around everyone is wondering if they actually work or if they were rushed too much. Countries don’t trust other countries’ vaccinations and are causing stress all over the world.
In short the first month of 2021 isn’t even over yet but it is going downhill at a faster rate than 2020.
