As you all may know, Elizabeth Acevedo is an acclaimed writer who was expected to come talk with us about her award-winning books. Unfortunately, she was not able to make it, but that should not stop us from learning more about who she is and what she has accomplished! Below is a little bit about her life and career.
Elizabeth Acevedo is an American Dominican New York Times Best Seller author. She was born in New York in 1988. At her teen years, Elizabeth Acevedo knew she not only wanted to become a rapper but a slam poetry rapper. She later went on to George Washington University to further her dreams of becoming a poet and writer and earned a BA in Performing Arts. She didn’t just stop there, she went on to earn an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Maryland. Elizabeth Acevedo is even a National Slam Poet Champion! She has become a renowned writer, poet, and influential speaker, and even spares her slim amount of free time to talk to young girls like us!
