In the past few weeks the USWNT, or the US Women’s National Team, along with Brazil, Japan, and England, have played in three matches for a small tournament called the SheBelieves Cup. These matches served as a benchmark for the upcoming World Cup in France this summer. On the first day of matches, England took to victory over Brazil with a score of 2-1 while Japan and the US tied 2-2. This put England in the lead for the cup title. On the second day, Japan beat Brazil 3-1 while England and the US tied 2-2. On the last day, the US needed England and Japan to tie in order to win the Cup, but England won 3-0. The US came out on top of Brazil with a 1-0 score, due to a beautiful goal by Tobin Heath.

In the first game for the US, Megan Rapinoe scored on a tap in after Tobin Heath broke though the defense and crossed it to her. Alex Morgan scored her 99th career goal after an assist from Christen Press. In the second game against England, Megan Rapinoe scored a beautiful goal, but England equalized and eventually pulled ahead in the second half. But, the US equalized after a cross by Tobin Heath. In their last game against Brazil, Tobin Heath fought her way through the defense and finished with a wonderful shot off of a deflection. Overall, all teams showed huge potential and watching made me more excited for the upcoming World Cup.
