Shoe styles have been changing every single year, especially with sneakers. I thought that it would be cool to research and get an idea of what the most popular shoes of 2018 were. Looking at my results, I have to say that these styles popped up especially at HB. Our classmates really know how to follow a trend.

1. Platforms

The Spice Girls’ shoe of choice is making a comeback. The only difference: The 2018 version is much sleeker than its chunky ’90s predecessor.

2. Oversize Bows

Giant bows and knots that flop as you walk have proved to be incredibly popular in 2018. Even at HB, I have seen girls wearing this style everyday in the past year.

3. Normcore

Seriously. Sneaks that were once considered clunky and unsightly are now making their way down the runway at shows like Chanel, Fifa, Balenciaga and Dior. Turns out your dad might have been on to something with his 45 pairs of New Balance 1990s.

4. Pure Classics

Adidas Superstars. Nike Air Force 1. Vans slip-ons and high-tops.  These iconic styles are proving that they truly are timeless classics worth the investment.

5. Retro

Everyone says that we shouldn’t dwell on the past, but I guess that opinion does not apply to shoe styles. Retro styles from the 80s and 90s have shown up everywhere, especially with companies like Reebok, Adidas, and Nike. Even my mom says she likes my shoes now!

Based on these shoe trends from last year, what do YOU guys think will be the new shoe trends in 2019 ???
