Why You Should Come to the Dance Concert (Besides the Free Cake)
By Violet Webster
Do you like dance? Do you like music? Do you like free cake and cookies? If you answered yes to any of these questions you should definitely come to the dance concert March 8th and 9th! This year the dance concert is 8 pieces long with a large variety of dance styles ranging from Modern Contemporary to classical Indian. This year also marks the return of Tap dance to the dance concert. The concert is almost entirely student generated with 6 of the 8 pieces choreographed by students. Young choreographers are given the opportunity to teach their original choreography to their peers over a two-month rehearsal process. This year’s concert will also include a piece developed by the in residence dance artist this year, b-girl Teena Marie Custer and a piece by our own Ms. Burnett. The show is slated to run about an hour starting at 7:30 with a reception afterwards (with refreshments) to greet and congratulate the performers. We hope to see you all there!
