Poem: We Are Not The Same

by Jordan Stacy

I am a star and you are a star.

And yes, we both lie in the same atmosphere, on the same plane,

out of the million stars on earth.

We fall in the same atmosphere, on the same plane, of the same earth.

And lying beside me,

you may be brighter than I am.

But brightness is perceived by the eye, not the heart.

So your light makes you no better than me.

I am overlooked because our hearts can’t see, our eyes can’t feel.

So even though we are both stars,

we must not be mistaken as the same.

Yes, we both lie in the same atmosphere, on the same plane, of the same earth,

but we are not the same.
