Top Ten Things That Should Stay in 2017!
by Lila Williams and Emma Esteves
- Thigh High Boots
Although these might have been the “big fad” last year, these hip high boots look very uncomfortable. How are people supposed to move around and be natural in those? I mean, this footwear definitely does not look comfortable. I think it would do us all a favor if these thigh high boots STAYED in 2017!
That’s right- a romper for men. Who in the world would ever think of something like this?! I guess men want to be in on the top fashion trends to. But let’s focus on what’s important here: romphims need to stay out of 2018!
- Putting Pom Poms on EVERYTHING
From car keychains to fluffy hats, it seems as if pom poms have taken over this world. Just about everywhere you go, pom poms are featured on something. They were a cute trend in the beginning, but some people are going CRAZY with the amount they attach to clothing and furniture . Let’s turn it down a notch with these fluffy balls of yarn.
- Unicorn Food and Drinks
It’s the whimsical creature that had everyone talking-the unicorn, and some people have taken their obsession a little too far. With unicorn hair styles, food, and even clothing, the magical creature was coming back to life. Also, the so called ‘edible glitter’ that’s added to everything unicorn related, isn’t really edible. Edible glitter is made out of the same glitter that we used in our 4th grade art projects (but it is more refined). So next time you’re drinking a unicorn latte, you’re drinking plastic. Happy 2018!
- Feathered Eyebrows
Feathered eyebrows became one of the most tried trends last year. People were obsessed with making their eyebrows look like beautiful feathers. Eyebrows are eyebrows people! Lets keep them be the way they are, and everyone will be happier.
- Kylie Jenner Lips
Everyone knows who Kylie is by now. She is some famous internet star who has the biggest lips of all time. People have began to admire her feature, so they wanted to try to replicate this themselves. This has not only cause pain to those who try it, but also produces an unattractive look. Let’s keep our lips the way they are. It will cause everyone less pain and humiliation.
- Water Bottle Flipping
After a guy performed at his school talent show with a single bottle of half-drinken water and some dramatic background music, water bottle flipping became not only the most intriguing trend, but also the most annoying. The sound of plastic crunching through the air has everyone cringing on the inside. People are obsessed with trying to land their beverage, or even trying to achieve the rare, “capping”, where the bottle lands on its cap. Every lunchroom contained eager students, just dying to flip their bottle of water. Water bottles should not be treated in such ways, and it would be best if this stayed in 2017.
- Fidget Spinners
Fidget Spinners. The toy that has made millions of dollars the past year. They may be fun to spin and relax with, but hundreds of schools have banned them as a distraction. The only focus is to learn how to spin it on one finger, or to see if a new design came out so you can soon be that “cool” kid. Fidget spinners are so last year.
Uggghhhh. It’s the dreaded slime. Requiring only 3 easy materials, slime has become one of the biggest trends this past year. With a plethora of colors and additives to increase the texture, slime is a great way to relieve stress……..if this was 2017. It makes a complete mess, and some people are even making a profit by selling their product to others. The slime making business needs to end. It will save everyone time…..and money.
I don’t even know how to explain this one. I mean, dabbing is probably the most frequent dance move of all time. After celebrating his touchdown in the endzone, Cam Jansen on the Carolina Panthers did the “dab”. It is created by raising your arm to approximately a 45 degree angle, then looking like you are going to sneeze, but really aren’t. This simple action has become the biggest and most popular trend of 2017. Everyone from young toddlers to senior citizens have taken part of this, but I think it is time that this move be laid to rest.
