HB Sports Update
by Kalie Sommerfeld
Cross country: The cross country team just finished up a great season. They met their team goal by advancing from the district meet to the regional meet, and they raced well despite the change in temperature. Senior Caroline Millican finished in the top five, advancing to the state meet, which took place last weekend. Millican set the fastest HB state meet time in history. She even finished in 15th place, earning her a spot on the podium. If you see Caroline in halls, give her a huge congratulations for her accomplishment!
Field Hockey: The field hockey finished off their season in the district semifinal game. They fell to Hudson with a score of 3-1. Their record for the season was 12-2. They played an amazing season!
Soccer: The soccer girls recently advanced to regionals after scoring three goals and winning a game against Highland. Unfortunately, they lost to Chagrin, but all the spectators can attest that the HB soccer team truly put up a fight. We’re proud of you!
Tennis: Tennis finished yet again another fantastic season. They had many amazing achievements this year, as Lauren Gillinov finished off her senior year with her third singles state champion title. Her sister, freshman Nicole Gillinov, was runner-up. Ally Persky and Catherine Areklett were the doubles state champions. Congratulations to these girls for an incredible season.
Volleyball: The volleyball team had a very strong season. They lost to NDCL (last year’s state champions) with scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-17. It was a tough match, but the HB volleyball players were fantastic. Great job!
