When outsiders think of Cleveland, they probably think of this lakeside town with a bad football team. They think of us as the “mistake on the lake.” Well this year, Cleveland has blossomed and put down those common “cléches.”

For one, people may think of Cleveland and think of nothing, actually nothing. However this summer, when people thought of Cleveland, they thought of the Republican National Convention. With this year being nerve-racking for the Republican Party, our city made the RNC run smoothly. Because of the worry around the event, even Clevelanders were nervous, but by the end of the convention, we realized we had nothing to worry about. Our mistake city had hosted a great event.

Also over the summer, when people thought of Cleveland, they thought of Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. On June 19th 2016, the Cavs won the NBA Championship, ending the 52 year long drought. The summer was definitely a peak for Cleveland.

To top it off, this peak isn’t over yet! As the Cleveland Indians just took on the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS and won, we are going to the World Series for the first time since 1997, and are hoping to take away the trophy for the first time since 1948. (I am sitting here right now on the day of game 6. Go Tribe!!!!!)
