This past Sunday was the biggest day in Hollywood, the 88th Academy Awards! There were many memorable moments, surprises, and laughs this year. Chris Rock hosted and did a fantastic job! Stacey Dash was the epitome of awkward, and Leo won! Here is a list of some of the big winners of the 88th Academy Awards:
Best Supporting Actress: Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl)
Alicia Vikander is talented, stunning, and was definitely best dressed!
Best Supporting Actor: Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies)
I have to say I did not see Bridge of Spies nor do I know anything about Mark Rylance, (I was rooting for Tom Hardy) but from what I have heard he gave a good performance.
Best Actress: Brie Larson (Room)
Brie Larson was a sure thing this year for her flawless performance in Room. Even though I thought Saoirse Ronan should have won for Brooklyn, I have to say Brie was incredible.
Best Actor: Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant)
After years and years, Leo finally won! Just look at his giddy smile; his happiness definitely radiated through everyone’s TV screens.
Best Director: Alejandro G. Iñárritu (The Revenant)
Alejandro G. Iñárritu won two years in a row! He is truly one of the most talented directors in the industry. If you haven’t seen Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) go watch it right now!
Best Cinematography: The Revenant
This was a well-deserved accolade for this fantastic film! The cinematography was breathtaking in every scene.
Best Original Song: Writing’s on the Wall (Spectre)
Sam Smith’s reaction was adorable! Writing’s on the Wall is amazing, and I would recommend adding it to your Spotify playlist.
Best Picture: Spotlight
Spotlight’s story was captivating and interesting. It was realistic and honest which I appreciated.
