Quick Breakfast Ideas

By Regan Brady

As on-the-go HB girls, many of us understand the importance of eating a nutritious breakfast, but we just don’t have time to make this meal a priority. Breakfast is an important meal to have, and eating a healthy one can help our brains function better during the day, and give us the energy we need to get through that first period math test. Here are a few simple breakfast ideas that won’t take up much time from your schedule:

Yogurt and granola: Add some oats or fruit and a bit of honey to a Greek yogurt cup from your fridge, and you have a healthy breakfast that is easy to take in the car with you.

Multi-grain waffle with toppings: Multi-grain or whole wheat waffles are a healthy alternative to normal waffles, and frozen waffles can be prepared in a toaster in minutes. Adding some peanut butter gives a boost of protein which is great for keeping you full for longer and helping your brain to function.

Smoothie: The options are endless with this one. Some great combinations are peanut butter/bananas/milk, strawberries/bananas/apple juice, and assorted berries. Smoothies are quick and a great healthy option.

Energy Muffins: Making a batch of healthy muffins to eat throughout the week can really save you time in the morning. Ingredients can include cranberries, raisins, walnuts, and oats.

Oatmeal: Microwaveable oatmeal is ready in seconds, and all you have to do is add water and pop it in the microwaves for a minute. If you have an extra minute or two, steel cut oatmeal is a great option for morning energy though it takes slightly longer to cook.
