It’s that time of year. That terrible time when homework incessantly fills up every waking minute of your life and it seems that you have no time to do anything. Especially take a two hour break to see a fantastic new movie. So here’s my recommendation: sit down, take a look at these movies, pick one out, and set it as a goal. Then, of course, go see it when it comes out!

First off – Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. This is Anderson’s latest movie since Moonrise Kingdom, which got a few Academy nods, meaning this writer-director has a lot to live up for. The film takes place in a European hotel between World War I and World War II, focusing on the hotel’s concierge who gets involved in some shady business, accompanied by a love story between the lobby boy and a young woman played by Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, The Lovely Bones). Other favorites (and Anderson repeats) such as Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Ralph Fiennes, Ed Norton, Jude Law, and Tilda Swinton also join this remarkable cast. The film comes out March 7, and is rated R for language, nudity, and brief violence.

Next is a fandom movie that so many HB girls have been waiting for – Divergent. Hitting theaters on March 21, this movie starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Ansel Elgort (the first and last of whom will be in The Fault in Our Starts, out June 6!) tells the first part of Veronica Roth’s Divergent series. Taking place in a futuristic, dystopian Chicago, Tris (Woodley) is forced to decide what faction of society she will spend the rest of her life in. With action, romance, and more action, this one will definitely hit the box office well.

Clevelanders, this is the movie to get excited for. Not only was Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier filmed downtown and on the Shoreway, but it was recently announced that there will be a premiere in Cleveland, as well as premieres in LA, Paris, London, and Beijing when the movie comes to theaters on April 4. Chris Evans returns as Captain America/Steve Rogers, accompanied by Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow/Natasha Romanov. Robert Redford (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting) joins the cast as the villain. Make sure to check this one out – not just for the Cleveland shots, but also for Chris Evans’ abs.

As if we all don’t love Andrew Garfield enough, here he is again in a skintight Spiderman suit accompanied by his real-life girlfriend and co-star Emma Stone in The Amazing Spiderman 2. Facing both internal and external enemies, Peter Parker (Garfield) is plotted against the mysterious Oscorp Company in this likely-to-be-blockbuster beginning on May 2.

Sure, we’re all jealous of Angelina Jolie just a tiny bit (at least!). But that won’t stop most people from filling the theaters for her new movie, Maleficent, out May 30. Billed as a retelling of the popular “Sleeping Beauty,” Maleficent looks at this fairy tale from the villain’s perspective, while also delving into her past. Elle Fanning (Super 8, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Brenton Thwaites (Australian, not bad-looking), and Peter Capaldi (the new star of BBC’s Doctor Who) also join the cast.

Well, hopefully now you’ve got a movie or two to be excited for! Get back to homework, then grab some popcorn and watch out for these movies!
