Laments of an HB Vegetarian: Meat Overload

At the sound of the bell, masses of hungry teenage girls flood down the atrium stairs and into the lunchroom. We push, we shove, perhaps even trample a freshman to get some food. It seems like most people are extremely excited for the lunch offerings at HB, attempting to do work during x period while impatiently dreaming of quenching our hunger. But, does everyone really like HB lunch THAT much?

After analyzing the options on the lunch menu, I don’t think so. There is so much MEAT! There is stew with beef, pizza with chicken and sausage, sandwiches with ham, and chili with, SURPRISE, more beef.

Menu Sampling: 

Beef Stew with Vegetables (MEAT!!)/Mashed Potatoes/Biscuit

Tuscany Chicken (MEAT!!)/Vegetable

Hard Salmi and Cheese (SURPRISE! MEAT!!)/Roasted Beet Salad (Does that say SALAD?)

Cheese/Pepperoni/BLT (DOUBLE MEAT!!)

Cincinnati Chili (DID I SAY MEAT?)

So what CAN vegetarians eat? Well, there is always the salad bar, but many find that “repetitive” and “bland”. Then there is fruit, though the bins quickly empty after we take away cereal bowls full of strawberries and pineapple. Oh, and toast! Yeah toast! Although I am not a vegetarian, I realize that many at HB are, and am sorry to admit that our lunchroom may possibly be on MEAT OVERLOAD.
